As I was mowing the yard today with my symbiotic chicken Blackie working beside me, please excuse the multi-syllable, Reader's Digest indicated it might help me remember who I am a bit longer if I used them, it occurred to me that it has been a long time since Ruth and I have taken a vacation. Who would watch the farm, the business, eat the gas station food if we left? Out of the blue skies, OZ seemed to be a viable, affordable option. I have been to Kansas, Lenexa I think it was, the hotel was a chain and that is all I can remember.

As a guy, logistics are all important:
Is OZ in Kansas or only in Dorothy's mind.
Were the Ruby slippers a means of two way transport or only back to Kansas.
Would Ruth and I have to bump each other in the head to get to OZ, if so, I suggest that I go first.

As is the case in real life, if it means a man has to wear Ruby slippers to take a vacation in OZ then we will have to go to I guess ...Waxahachie, Tx...again the syllable thing.

Well if you ever come to Kansas again skip Lenexa...it's a suburb of Kansas City and far from what the rest of the state is like.

I have to agree. NOTHING worth seeing in Lenexa, especially for a vacation. The Flint Hills are at least pretty..... but not much else. Personally, I'd go to Colorado! But Texas could be fun, too. What will you do there?

Sorry, but that just aggrevates me to no end when Kansas people themselves say there's nothing pretty about Kansas. There are many pretty areas in the state. The Gyp Hills are wonderful too as are the Smokey Hills. The area in the NW corner of the state is unbelievable. I love the wide open area of western Kansas. The fields of different crops growing are pretty too. Just because we don't have giant mountains or a sea shore doesn't mean it's not worth seeing.

As far as the bashing, we can butt heads together and go at the same time. That would seem to be the only fair and efficient way to travel. There might even be some experience at it. We have brick walkways going everywhere on the grounds, not yellow though - yet.

Not trying to bash Kansas at all. It's been very good to me; it just has a more subtle beauty that most people don't appreciate.

The vacation was figurative of course as I think parking a pickup in OZ might be a problem, sorry Exxon.

there is a bar in my town where the guys wear ruby slippers . . . we even have a store that sells them in mens sizes . . . sooo maybe OZ is really in Idaho?
