Kayla’s Flock!

She’s broody. I’m not letting her hatch though. I only have enough space to keep the ones that will be hatching from my incubator. So I’m going to put her in “broody jail” and see how that goes!
Great idea!:thumbsup Unless you want to give her some chicks after they hatch in your incubator. I think you should do broody jail though.

Well Kayla, bags are packed, truck is loaded. Flat tire hopefully fixed. Hoping the bird isn't a CRJ tomorrow but pretty sure it is. So two hours of high intensity claustrophobia is in my future. I miss the days when airlines treated customers as paying customers instead of cattle. I used to love to fly, now I hate it.

Brrr... it was cold this morning- 28*F. Good thing I winterized the coop yesterday. This year, we are trying wood shavings (for my horse, but i mean, same thing) instead of hay.
We need to add a roof over the run, we have used a tarp before, (I know.... I'm embarrassed by it) and it works for less than one foot, but it doesn't work for overnight 2-3ft of snow. So the plan is that we are going to add half of the roof before winter, and then add the second part of the roof along with extending the run to make it big enough for six pullets (and a 3 year old hen who hasn't grown up) flitting around.
