My flock is growing, and I'm gearing up to get serious about breeding for specific characteristics.

I would like to hear what different methods you all are using to keep records. Do you just jot down notes in a notebook? Spreadsheets? Pedigree software? I'm not really sure where to begin, so please tell me what works best for you.

Also, what methods are out there for tagging your birds? I've seen leg bands, but are there other options? Is there a method that works better for chicks? What works best for adults?

And lastly, I can't find any of this stuff locally. Who carries quality identification products at a good price online?
