Keeping Their Toes Clean?

Hi -

I have some Mille Fleurs, and Cochins - they are less than one week old..... how do I keep their feathers on their toes clean? They step in poop, and have bits of chick mash smashed into them. I'm taking a warm slightly damp cloth and gently rubbing them off. Does it get better as they get older?

I don't thinl it gets better, I think it gets messier cause the pooh gets bigger. But I would say that it won't bother them if you clean their feet with water. But if you have alot of chicks that is going to be a chore.
