It just depends. Those pics it stayed like that for a few days. I think we were stuck for 3 days that time. Thats what it usually is anywhere from a day to 3.
As far as standing water in the low spots it can last for a couple to 3 weeks.

I'm a hillbilly out in the boonies. Going around smelling stuff isn't probably the best habit to get into.

I doubt that there is any need to ever be concerned about that. There is no marshmallow fluff in my house but I do remember how good it is as a hot cocoa topping from my youth.
