I am new to goats and have a few Nubians that we plan to milk Doing some research though i learned how disease and parasite resistant Kikos are. If i were to put a Kiko buck over a nubian doe would they get the resistance of the kiko? Also, what would it do to milk production and butterfat content?

Dad used to raise kiko/boer crosses. The crosses were very parasite resistant, but milk production did not increase at all, compared to the mothers. Some of the mums, Licorice and Ruby and Cinnamon in particular, all had larger udders than their daughters did. I attribute this to the fact that they actually had higher body fat percentages than the daughters did.

As for milk goats, we had Sugar and Spice (twin Saanen/kikos) who milked about two quarts a day, each. Their mother (the saanen) wasn't used as a milk goat, but her udder was bigger than either of her daughters' were, at kidding time. We didn't really have a comparison for butterfat content, as we only had one other milk goat of unknown breed.

Thank you!
