Killer Hen Mama

My hen is pecking at the head of a freshly hatched chick. It's the only one that's hatched so far. What should I do?

One thing I would do is to check out the chick. Birds, as far as I know, will sometimes kill weak chicks to get them out of the gene pool. If the chick is too small or weak she may think it's going to attract predators. She may also be confused upon finding the chick instead of an egg. I would separate them for now, and maybe find a foster mom.
