Just getting into this forum thing. But I just got a trio of Lady Amherst Pheasants in late 2021, they are not fully matured.

1. My male and one of the females are chasing the other, just wondering if this could be tied to breeding it usually happens when I throw out corn for them. Guess it could also be some kind of food aggression.

2. What time of year do the males color up, like do they molt in the fall then get colors or do they grow them over existing feathers.

3. Any other tips that anyone learned when they first starting raising pheasants that might be good to know.

I’m not familiar with pheasants, but my turkey Tom and hen showed similar behavior. It has to do with pecking order if I had to guess. Not sure about the coloring tho. I hope someone with more experience helps!!

Its probably a breeding display, this is close to their courtship period,so he may be a little frisky.
The male should color out this fall if he is a 2021 hatch bird.
In N.H.,Tony.
