Lady Gaga, currently 10 weeks old, is a spunky little chicken. [Insert gender neutral pronoun] has always been independent and generally odd. Recently Gaga has started making horrendous noises in the morning. Its not quite a cockle-doodle-do more like a "baaaallllk". We've always questioned the gender, but I'm having a hard time making the call - as we live in an urban environment and it'd be a challenge to keep a roo.
(S)He has a pronounced comb, and its mighty red, much more so than all her/his coop-mates, although it's hard to compare as we don't have any more Black Australorps in the flock. Saddle feathers don't seem pointy though, and I've heard that a sure sign. I've also read hens often crow in the absence of a rooster, so I don't want to immediately classify the "crowing" Let me know what you think.

And obviously way too cute to get rid of!
