There is a large mass on one of my hens' breast and on top of it she has recently started acting like a rooster. She will click like rooster and bob her head around like a rooster. Is this what you would call transgender chicken? Does the mass have anything rod do with this? The mass doesn't seem to bother her at all. The mass spread from one side to her whole breast. It is really jiggly and swings back and forth when she moves. We just treat the coop for worms and are currently have a necropsy on a chicken who recently died. She was the third one we lost so we decided it was time for a specialist and will be getting a result soon.

Where is this mass or can you post a pix? Also be sure we're not talking about the hen's crop or craw which is located on the right side of the breast and acts like a food storage pouch.

That might be pendulus crop. I have heard it described, but never seen a picture.

Is that there all the time? Even in the morning when her crop is empty? Can't tell really if it her crop or a mass like you say. Almost looks like a full crop.

I am starting the treatment for petruding crop because it is definitely her crop. The mass felt like a tennis ball but after giving her some Olive oil orally and massaging the crop for 10 minutes it now feels like a bunch of crumble is in there. The mass is there all 24 hours and we have been massaging the mass since yesterday morning and it is slowly getting softer which from what I've read is a good sign. The only question left is it sour crop or perturbing crop because they are basically the same thing but sour crop can have fungus and bacteria issues so should I get medication from the vet to treat it just in case.
