So 3 out of my 4 (all different breeds) approx. 4 week old chicks have lumps (almost golfball size) on the right side of their neck. What is that? Is it normal? What do I do? Please help =/
It's their crop, where food goes before it's processed. Check in the morning before they've had much chance to eat and it should be way down. From this site: http://vetchick.wordpress.com/2010/03/08/internal-anatomy-of-chicken/
Yep! Perfectly normal Check them in the morning, you'll notice those lumps are gone...but they'll be back in the afternoon/evening time. Good observation though, I owned chickens for many months before noticing the crop area!
