Last weekend we had a fishercat in the coop.

I don't know about the ones you have but my father owns a business and they had one there go after anybody that came around.
Got chased back into their cars.
The one we had here had absolutely no fear of humans.
My local animal control officer said it was quite common for them to be aggressive with people.
Maybe it runs in certain (lines) like other animals.
Who knows.

All members of the family Mustelidae have such a strong prey drive that it frequently over rides their natural fear of humans. There are many stories of fishers chasing cats into homes through pet doors. I have seen a weasel trailing/pursuing a rabbit through a crowd of people at a field trial - almost oblivious to the people trying to hit it with brush sticks. Long ago as a kid while fishing a weasel spent the major part of a day trying to remove panfish from a stringer the whole time I was throwing stones at it. Badgers and wolverines - I need say no more about them. Mink on a killing spree can be impossible to dissuade - again at a field trial in NY we heard squealing in a brush pile and found two mink attacking a rabbit - they were oblivious to the people tearing the brush pile apart. And skunks - well they need no fear as they carry their own arsenal. Anyone who has spent any time in the outdoors knows about the tenacity of this family.
