Each year I add new pens and coops and this year is no exception. With the increase from 40 last season, to 60+ hens this year, I decided to build a new henhouse. It will be built on the 14 by 20 foot old concrete footings of the dilapidated half of the old coop that was demolished. The weather has been very nice so I have been busy doing my carpentry work( pays the bills ) and the start date of the coop has been pushed back several times so now its mid Nov and it could plunge into deep winter any time now in these parts. Ive got a start on it though and will try to post pics. Got plans for an old but proven type of ventilation of moisture which has been my greatest challenge in the winter in my previous coops. I will renovate the old henhouse with new ventilation and it will become my rooster house. I will be keeping about 16 roosters. Hope the nice weather holds til after thanksgiving.

Wow, what a nice size! My chickens would love a place that big. Are you going to put up a vapor barrier over the insulation?
