We used to have shade cloth over our entire dog pen. Every winter we had to shovel snow off the top and once we had to get the dog down.

DH decided this weekend he didn't want me shoveling snow off the top of the chicken run so he built a roof over it. I am so pleased with it ... should keep the sand dry and give summer shade.
