Lavendar Orpintons hens or roos?

I purchased 2 Lavendar Orpingtons as straight run and was told I would be able to tell the sex by the tailfeathers before wattles and comb come in, is this true? These 2 are about 6 weeks old and have completely diffrent tailfeathers. I thank you in advance for any input
