Hi everyone! So I recently posted a thread on here about my 2 chickens and I got some amazing help receiving advice from the people on this forum :) anyways since then I have noticed my araucana growing more fluffy rounded feathers and have also noticed him/her missing feathers on its wings? Wondering if this could mean it may be a female?
And why is he/she losing feathers?
Forgot to mention it's 12 weeks old. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

First off, that's not an Aracauna because it has tail feathers (Aracaunas are rumpless), so it's probably an Easter Egger. The sexing method of feather shape is not very accurate, I'd suggest posting a pic of the comb. For now, I'm guessing pullet. Also, I can't know for sure by the pics, but does it have a crest? It looks like it does in one pic. It's probably just having an early molt. The feathers will be replaced in a few days.

The bird in question is located in Australia. Their Araucanas are different than the ones we have in here in the States.

Hi everyone sorry I forgot to mention we are in Australia. Thank you or junebuggena for clearing that up :)
Someone else has mentioned early molt too :) seems like that is the culprit which is fine. Excited to receive our new chicken house for them tomorrow :)

Australian Araucana cockerel - the patch of colour on his wings is a dead giveaway.

They're dropping feathers because they are moulting [IMG]
