Here is Marty, my Lavender English Orpington. “He” is 14 weeks old today. “His” dad showed very strong pullet traits until this age and was wondering if it could be the same case with Marty.

Hi welcome to byc! Just curious but what stands out to you of marty that makes him look like a cockeral?

Are you sure that Marty is a boy? He looks like a pullet to me

I’m just wondering if he is a pullet or cockerel. Everyone thought Marty’s dad was a pullet for the longest time because he had no male colorings or feathers at the same age as Marty.

That’s what I was thinking. When Marty was younger, 5-7 weeks, he always had more pronounced wattles and comb.

The Polish cross is definitely a cockerel. I think Marty is a cockerel as well. No male specific feathering but the comb is big and red, and that generally doesn't happen with pullets until later on.
