We bought 3 lavender orphington that were supposed to be pullets. One was a roo. The
Other pictured seperatly is the smaller of the 3 hens and is one we hatched and kept from some eggs we bought. 2 look a little dark around the neck and head the other two are lighter. I google searched and it seems fairly common they are still young at 22 weeks. Thoughts?

They are growing in new feathers. Young feathers are folded and rolled up which visually darkens their color. The color will homogenize as the feathers mature.
