i have 6 issa browns in sydney australia. i usually get 4 eggs a day.
last night they went to bed around 6 when it got dark as normal. they seemed fine. about 8 i heard 1 of them clucking heaps and went out to see and 1 of them is out and walking around. i didnt know why so i just put it back in its house.
it kept clucking for a while and setled after a while.
this morning i noticed it an egg right where it was clucking, that wasnt there the night before.

could it have layed an egg at night?
do they do that sometimes?

I'd guess it could be possible. I only have 1 laying right now she lays whenever she feels like it sometimes early, sometimes lunchtime and the evenings. So who knows.
