Layer feed need info

    My DH went to the feed store and got a bag of feed for layers. He also wanted oyster shells and grit, and the salesperson said it was already in the layer feed. Is this right? Karen

    If layer feed is all they eat, that is "complete" for them. I assume they have access to dirt so they get the grit from the floor. As for oyster shell, you should get some anyways if they eat stuff other than their feed as it will make up for the calcium that they wouldn't get from eating grass.

    In short. It is not in their feed. They are supplements to be given on the side.
