Several times over summer I've gone out in the morning, let the girls out and when I go to clean the coop there's an egg under the roost, as if they laid it in their sleep. Their litter is pine shavings and the egg doesn't break, which is good but it has on occasion been covered by poop as though it was laid in the night and then pooped on.
Is this kind of egg laying common or a possibility?
