Laying Muscovy Ducks

i was wondering how long after a muscovy female is mated with that she will lay her eggs. and also can the male muscovy be in the same area or pen as a female muscovy with ducklings?

1. Mating has nothing to do with inducing laying in ducks. She will most likely start laying in spring.

2. Maybe. Some people have success with keeping them together especially when it comes to Muscovies. However I would keep them separated then monitor the Drakes reaction when trying to introduce him to the babies. Drakes have been known to kill their offspring.
