Hi, I know it's safe to leave unwashed eggs out on the counter top for quite sometime but I have two roosters so my question is a bit different. I gather my eggs every day, sometimes every other. I don't always get to wash them all right away. I always refrigerate after washing, but how long can I leave fertilized eggs out unwashed on counter and they still be safe to wash and refrigerate for eating?

I read an article in Backyard Chickens that said that it actually wasn't safer to leave any eggs out. That being said it shouldn't matter whether they are fertilized or not.
