Leg bands for showbirds

I have been wanting to compete in our state fair this fall. But it actually requires that the birds have leg bands. I have always competed in my county fair that never requires this. Anyway, all it said what that they need leg bands with numbers on them. So when shows require this, can it be any type of numbered leg band or?

I'm not sure on poultry, but I know parrot, finch, dove, and softbill shows require that the bird be close banded in order to accrue points within it's class from show to show. Open leg bands that can be slipped off and on (from bird to bird) prevent a bird from advancing any higher than its placing at a single show.
