Hello,
When I was inspecting my hens this morning I noticed they had rather dry bumpy legs (with some dark spots under the edges of a couple of the scales) and was wondering if these were early signs of leg mites.
I recently got three new hens I currently have in quarantine, and I noticed they have much softer and smoother looking legs than my ladies. Which made me wonder if there was something actually wrong with my existing flock.
They do free range for large portions of the day (which is why they have dirty little legs and feet in the pictures) so I wondered if it was simply that they have more "weathered" legs or if there were mites, which I would like to deal with as early as possible if there is an issue.
I have attached some pictures of all five of my hens legs
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
