Trying to figure out if our 8 week Leghorn is a he or a she. We are new to this, so very unsure. We don't have another to compare it to. We were leaning towards a cockerel, but then someone showed us a hen, and now we are questioning it. Maybe it's too soon to know....

I'm thinking cockrel, but I have heard of leghorns being fast to mature, so could be a really rapidly growing hen. Any others from that hatch to compare him to?

Nope, no others to compare. It's about the same size as our 4 mo old Americauna though...and it's only half the age!

It is boy, but I do not think he is a Leghorn. Looks more like White Rock.

We were told Leghorn, but I have no idea how to tell. What makes you say a White Rock?

Well, I think I found out the answer to my question for breed...it's all in the earlobes. Red earlobes = White Rock. Am I correct?

No, but I will definitely take one and post it! Out of 6 chicks we have had since spring, 4 have turned out to be boys. We live in the city and can't have them...hoping this one's a girl, but not looking too promising. [IMG]
