Today im starting on building my 2nd coop, i learned alot from mistakes on the first one!! the new one will be PVC, the base of the run will be 10 x 20 but I am wondering about the hoops. Whether to use two 10ft joined together or a bit shorter one with no joins. I can't really transport anything longer than 16ft.

issues are

1. I want it to be high enough to walk in easily
2. Hoops need to to be long enough so that they are pretty much vertical when they reach the base
3. Not too long so they snap when i bend them....

is there a formula or is it trial and error. (i'd like to avoid the expense of trial and error :)...)

PS: getting my marans soon hence the new coop..... cant wait !!!

OK so i figured it out..

if I want it to be a semicircle then all i have to do is figure out the circumference and
divide by 2.

so. it the end of my coop is 10ft (the diameter)

the formula is pi x diameter/2

pi is roughly 22/7 so it's 22/7*10/2 = 15.715

so i will make the pvc hoops 17ft long, i can cut a little more off if
more accuracy is needed.

i added the extra 12" to give a little more height, hopefully it won't look
like a hobbit hole :)
