Hello!
My name is Caroline. I am currently the mama to 12 1 year old hens and 15 1 week old chicks! I am pretty new to chicken raising. My husband and I were given some old Banny chickens when we got married about 3 years ago and have been through 2 flocks trying to find the right chickens for us and I think we are finally happy with our growing flock. Our 1 year old hens are all americaunas and we now have 5 new hampshire reds, 5 barred rocks & 5 orpingtons (and possibly going to buy more tonight!) I found out about BackYardChickens.com by googling answers to my questions!
Other hobbies of mine are; gardening, archery, hunting, kayaking, fishing, hiking and traveling. I am also the wife to Mr. Childers and dog mama to a 1 year old black Lab named Maggie and 8 year old beagle/walker hound named Roscoe. We are also preparing to add goats to our little farm this year.
Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself, I look forward to talking to all of you!

G’Day from down under Caroline :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
