Letting a hen hatch in winter yay or nay?

Last chick is hatching. Had to move momma sooner than planned bc I found one of the chicks in the middle of my run! Can anyone tell me how to treat this? I looks like its skinh was peeled back. Possibly by ine if the other hens. Poor thing. :(

I personally would just spray the wound with bluekote if it isn't too deep to discourage pecking. It should heal up without any other intervention. They do often take off, that's why I try to get them contained early on during the hatch.

Someone said to wait til all the eggs hatched so thatbis what I was waiting for. Luckily she settled down as soon as we moved her and returned all the babies. The last egg is hatched. All 8 made it successfully. Not sure how the little guy managed to get outside that far away. Her nesting box was the farthes from the door to the run. I have him isolated in a brooder in the house. My vet said not to leave him with the other bc they may end up killing it. The wound is t deep at all. Its as though a claw litereally filleted the skin off. Poor baby. Thank you for everyones advice! All the chicks look like baby Jersey Giants except for one which is solid gray. Daddy is a Giant. I was hoping with some of the mommas being Easter Eggers that I would get some cool colors but not looking that way so far. :/

She would only try to kill it if she thinks it's not hers. A spritz of bluekote will hide any red color. The longer you keep it away the more you risk rejection.

I do not have blukote. The wound is not bleeding. You can see the muscle but now blood. I honestly didn't even notice it at first. I'll return the chick tonight. Where can I get blukote? Feed store? I can get some tomorrow.
