Hi all,
3 weeks ago, one of our 3 hens was acting listless and not eating as well. We checked them all out and 2 out of the 3 had rip roaring lice infestations. So we dusted them all x 3, each a week apart, and that situation seems better. The two chx that were affected have been eating less and have watery green diarrhea, maybe a small amount of blood but hard to tell. Neither are laying. Our other chicken looks thankfully healthy.
For the past 2 days, one of the two that were sick is really not eating or drinking much at all, and just looks droopy. No chicken vets in the area so we have been DIY-ing. We had de wormed them, and are finishing amprolium in the water for possible cocci. I am at a loss of how to help these girls, esp the one who is listless and not eating. We are planning to add vitamins and electrolytes to their water now that the cocci treatment is over, but she is not drinking much so who knows how much of anything she is truly getting. Any suggestions? Separate from the others and give TLC? I feel so bad for these chickens!
