Hi, all - my RIR hen has probably 2-3 dozen feathers around her vent with nits at the base. I've cleaned and dusted the roosting area twice (ten day intervals) and dusted her and my other hens three times (7 day intervals) all with permethrin. My RIR (Daisy) is the only bird with the nits. I've trimmed her feathers back, but the nits never seem to hatch or go away. My girls free range all day, so Daisy has plenty of access to dirt bathing. Are these eggs still viable? Should I keep treating? Should I worry about removing the eggs? Help!
