I’m having trouble deciding whether these guys are Roos or hens. I thought I had it down but I was wrong with some of my other chickens. These are the three light Brahmans. They are about 8ish weeks. Finding out I have a lot more roosters then I bargained for.
Also the first two are really feisty. The third one is more mellow and not so much a pecker.

Agree you may have to wait a bit to be certain, but so far they look like pullets.😊

This was my light brahma roo/cockerel at about that same age. He had a very bright red comb and waddles but even without that it was pretty obvious from his stance/strut, he stood more upright at the chest and his legs were thicker and you can start to see his hackle feathers around the neck. I'm not good at picking out the hackle and saddle feathers at this age though. I can usually tell pretty confidently by their stance and other small signs like the thicker legs, their tail feathers, waddle and comb etc. At this age all 3 of my brahma roosters were standing more upright than the hens.

Also noteworthy: My light brahma hen was second to the top female at this age, so she was very dominant. Her name is Minnie but only because my daughter wanted to call her Meanie and I vetoed that. As an adult she is a sweet chicken, just a little head strong and stubborn sometimes.

Brahmas can be tough, but they don't need to be 15 weeks to sex them by any means. Even my super tricky ones were sexable by 12 weeks and the only reason those particular birds took me so long was a whammy of compounding variables that made them confusing (straight run chicks that ended up somehow being all pullets and lack of good comparison pictures for the buff laced variety). Looking back with what I now know, they could have been sexed by ten weeks easy-peasy. Yours are right exactly at the turning point where cockerels become noticeable and you can check for saddle feathers under their normal back feathers. I very much think yours are pullets, check for saddle feathers under their existing back feathers however. Here's a pic of my Light Brahma boy at eight weeks and again at ten showing how much they change at this crucial time and lack of comb growth not meaning that much. I suspect most would have said he was a pullet at eight weeks. I knew by eight weeks by checking for saddles, but you can see by ten how the saddles became visible without searching.

Mine is 7 weeks old. Several are telling me roo others hen , others that its too early. Sadly I cant own a roo 😞. Is it true that only males have 3 row peas? I thought they both do and just the males is larger? So far the comb is a tad orange but not red. I do notice the lack of tail but also wonder since it was a farm store purchase if it could be a mix?
