light for egg laying

    do chickens need extended "light" hours to lay eggs, if so how long? [​IMG]

    They need a total of 14 hours of light per day.

    Actually, first year pullets often lay very well on less light. I only provide 11 hours of light and egg laying is quite adequate. It depends on the age and on the breed.
