She has a slight brown on her back and has quite puffy feathers around her head! :S Any ideas
puffy feathers around the face could mean EE mixture
when you look a the top picture, where you can see the brown on the back, do you reckon it could be a faverolle? http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgu...a=X&ei=NYvrTtbdNfLR4QTJ_Y3oCA&ved=0CEEQ9QEwAQ
Quote:thats what I was thinking Fav. Mix , shes got some big ole legs. Pretty though!
second picture doesn't though, how many toes does she have?
Looks like a Faverolles mix to me! Any feathers on her legs or extra toes? lol
I'm not seeing any faverolles in that bird. Faverolles are bearded, have ear muffs, five toes, and leg feathering. That bird has none of those things. Crosses between a feather leg breed and a clean leg breed usually have some sparse leg feathering.
Quote:I have a Fav. x Speckled Sussex Hen and she does not have the muffs, or leg feather, She does have the white legs (both breeds) and 5 toes though, she is built very much like this girl, but the colors are of course not the same, mine got the speckles from her mom and she is brown.
In the top picture to me she does look like she has some Fav. in her, not so much in the second though.
I had a rooster who was a Faverolles mix. He did not have muffs, beard, feathered legs, or extra toes! He was also crele colored. One of his offspring is about 7 weeks old and has a lot of black on him, especially his chest and has feathered legs! Mom was an EE, so he didn't get those from her! Genetics and what is and isn't inherited and recessive is really interesting, isn't it?
She turned like this after her moult! And got the brown tint on her back! She doesn't have feathery legs, or any extra toes for all I know? But doesn't have a proper beard like a faverolle, but does have slight puffyness round her neck and head! The second pic, is of her before her moult btw!
