I've tried searching the forums and trying to troubleshoot this but I've still got a question. My 9 day old trio of ducklings have a rather large brooder area and they haven't slept near their heat lamp since about 2-3 days old.

I checked the temp under the light and it was at 80 F. They sleep farthest away where it's also darker. They sleep together but don't appear cold. Acting normally otherwise. Temp in house is always 70 F overnight but can be higher during the day if it's warm outside.

Do they hate the light? I thought I bought a red one but it's incandescent and looks more yellow. Should I switch this or ditch it altogether if it's bugging them??

    Any suggestions are appreciated!

I would try takeing the heat lamp out. Watch them closely for 24 hours. If they act cold (especially at night) get a red bulb. If not Keep the lamp out.

Okay, sounds like a plan. I will give it a go tomorrow and see how they do. Thank you!
