for some reason i have it in my head that if i keep a light on that it will keep the rats away from my chicks. is this true or just something ive made up in my head? and im worried about them trying to make my ducks a meal b/c they nest on the floor of the coop. im i over reacting?

NOPE!

The rats will be desensitized to the light and they'll come out anytime. Mine do, I keep the barn lights on 24/7 at times. To ward off the bigger preds, I keep the lights on AND a radio going. Those suckers still come out and hang around, not phased by it in the least.

Anyone try any of the rat zapper units that are supposed to scare rats away? If so, do they have any effect on the birds?
