We got some Bantam Chicks at the Tractor Store. One of each of a few varieties. One little guy is of course black/brown and yellow, no difinitive pattern. But he is abut 1/2 the size of the other bantams and FAST!! What kind would you guess him to be?
Kind of like adopting a child, you don't really care what kind- you love them all, but woould be nice to know. I have two silkies, one was really broody, put a few eggs under her, she hatched one- a rhode island red, which at two weeks is getting pretty big next to the momma, but we snuck these other 6 banties underneath her at the same time. It was fun to watch how she jsut kept puffing up wider and wider to keep them all warn and talked and tlaked to them. I just love it. Now is the little boy once would just not go into puberty- it would be nice all the time.

I asked my husband to e-mail me a picture of little Flash. I suppose he thinks I am nuts by now. But Flash is his favorite- he just doesn't know it yet.

You got me beat sophie. I have 4 RI Red hens and 1 Rooster (who will be in the soup pot as soon as I get a nicer rooster all grown up), 2 silkies, who are jsut the cutest. !0 Super Rocks who are short term, of course, 6 Wyandotte chicks, 6 mixed bantam chicks, 1 Red Comet Chick, 1 Amberlink chick, and 1 RI Red chick. I will have ten other chickies arrive this next week. I am looking for a couple of Frizzles to add in. I really want my grandkids to see how life is supposed to be- not all motorized toys and computer games. Rasising your own food, having fun with animals, a good healthy garden. That sort of stuff. And we have 1 sheltie dog who will be 10 this fall. She just recently was told she was adopted- until then she thought she was one of the kids. Our last kid has now gone to the Army so it is just us and the pets. and my husband has a Little Family nursery- specializing in trees and I am a nurse. Our favorite hobby next to the chickens is our grandchildren.

If he is 1/2 the size of the others, he might be a serama. There are tons of color varieties on seramas and if he is smaller then the others, its a possibility. Otherwise, you might have to wait until (s)hes older, or get a closer picture for me to tell. When you do, make sure to send me a private message so I can tell you.
