living willow fence

has anyone constructed a live willow fence for a chicken run? will it keep the ladies in (better yet, the dogs out).

the current plan is to install fence posts 6' on center, with 2 x 4 's 1' and 4' off the ground. in between the posts, install live willow stakes (d. 1-2"). maybe bury larger (6+") willow logs at the base of fence (to stop digging).

I have not tried this yet, but am thinking of doing it. I think it will work just fine.
