The only store around that sells chicks has a bunch in a cage with openings that are 1/4x1/2 and the chicks are walking around on it. They have pine shavings under he floor. I though I had read it was bad for their little feet to be walking on an unsolid floor? Any input would be appreciated. They have great prices on supplies and have been around forever, family owned since I can remember.
They probably figure that they will be sold soon and won't be on it for long? I dunno.....I wouldn't complain to them or anything, but I would DEFINENTLY go and buy all of those chicks
1/4 x1/2 is fine for chicks, its stable and almost floor like. its not like they are going to be on it for the rest of their lives. be appreciative they have them on somthing that the poo falls through rather than have it get stuck to their feet. much more sanitary.
