Last week I had purchased two 7 week old pullets from a farm as pets, and yesterday I lost one of them to coccidiosis, despite treatment. The remaining girl is doing fine, she's eating and curious and active, but she seems so lonely. I spend time with her as much as I can, and she's such a little sweetheart, but I can't be there all the time. The farmer said he'll replace the girl I lost in 2-3 weeks, but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to help out the one I have until then? Will the mirror trick work on a 7 week old bird? Every time I leave the room she just peeps and peeps and it's breaking my heart.

I would try that or put a stuff animal with her. I had a duckling who would cry because she was alone. We put a toy chicken in her brooder and she stopped crying and would snuggle with it.
