Last night was the first night that my 3 chickateers (5 weeks old) slept on the high roost with the big birds, so naturally I was going out to the coop every two hours to peek in on the them and make sure they were all okay. I was afraid that they'd get knocked down off the roost and spend the night on the cold floor.
The last time I checked on them I found that two of the chicks had been jostled around. Instead of being under mama hen, they were now under the wings of a non-broody speckled sussex; one under each wing. While the SS made no move to remove the little interlopers, the look on her face was priceless! HELP! I'm got these THINGS stuck under me......
