Hi, we hatch eggs for local breeders and then send them back. I need a simple and easy way to transport the chicks the short way in my vehicle. Often, we have about 500 chicks/ducklings at a time and groups of 25 or more on the breeds.

I'd really like to find the Happy Meal style boxes that feed stores use as I don't need the super heavy boxes. It has to be cheap because I won't take boxes back and reuse them for bio-security reasons. I am open to using a plastic method as those could be sanitized.

Any suggestions? I have been combing the internet for weeks with no avail.

I work at a casino and have access to as many empty beer boxes as I want. They work great... heavy duty cardboard and have handles on them. The bartenders love when I do this because then they don't have to break all of them down for recycling. I'm sure any local bar or liquor store has tons of them.

I work in a farm and ranch store and the boxes we get for the chicks come from our feed vendors. You might try to contact one of these vendors like Purina or Nutrena and see what they would charge after all it is free advertisng for them.

That is what I do also....stop at the liquor store on a Monday or Tuesday when they're stocking up from the weekend and they have lots of boxes.

Try at a wholesale grocers. They sell things like cake boxes and food containers for take out. They might have something that looks like a happy meal box.
