    I have several Australorps that have VERY dark brown eyes, they almost look like they have little beady black eyeballs. I acquired a handful of black chickens that look for all the world like my Australorps except their eyes are like a yellow color. Are they Australorpsor another breed?

    The only real way to tell is to check out the bottoms of their feet

    Yellow= It's a black giant

    White/pink= It's an aussie

    Australorps don't have any eye color except black - like the post above, pink/white feet bottoms - all the ones I've ever had, had just one white feather on the tips of their wings. Post a pic if you can. :)

    I suspect they are some sort of mutts, all of the others I got in that batch seemed to be.

    well, I got a group of hens from some local Mennonites, this girls where in the lot. They all seem to be mutts. (FWIW this was the purchase that taught me to NEVER buy adult birds, took out more than half my flock).
