I've had chickens my whole life and have never seen bugs on them. I bought a peacock from an auction and in addition to health problems, I noticed these strange bugs on the towel I had him wrapped up in while giving an injection. I dusted him with Sevin dust. I have no idea what these things are. They are tan/yellow and shaped similar to a termite. I thought mites or lice were barely visible to the naked eye. These are as big as ants!

The lice my chickens had were VERY visible to the naked eye, so that would by my guess, but I'm not an expert by any means.

Feather mites? They're pretty sizeable, and look a LOT like termites. I HATE them!!!! yuck! They quickly crawl to the nearest warm body, so if the animal is sick and cold, they all crawl on to YOU! [IMG]
