I have a mystery chick, around 9 weeks old. She was obtained from a school hatching project. She is obviously a bantam and has no tail. I have no idea the breed. Anyhoo, she has had poop stuck to her feathers under her vent off and on since I got her. Her vent looks okay, not red or irritated, but poor baby. I have to clean her butt under her vent all of the time, and sometimes a feather will come out and she yelps a little. What can I do for her? Will she grow out of it? Seems like she has looser stools, or maybe those are just the ones that stick to her feathers? She seems to be at the bottom of the pecking order, so she is the last to eat, etc. I always try and give her a treat outside of the run, just so she can get some. She is so sweet. Any ideas what I can do for her?

Use a sharp pair of scissors to trim back feathers below her vent, that should take care of your problem.
