Hi everyone, First time raising turkeys and they have been penned until two days ago, when I left them out overnight. No problem, all four were accounted for the next morning. Okay, I (wrongfully assumed) that they were safely roosting at night and all was good. Yesterday morning I observed all four coming down from their roost to start their morning forge. Got home from church and the duck on the pond was visibly upset about something. Walked down the hill and only saw three of my turkeys. I called for the other one and discovered feathers in the pasture. Upon further investigation I found half of the carcass buried beside the barn. Everyone is back in the pen, and will stay in the pen unless I'm down there to supervise them. Also the 12 gauge is going down with me from now on! Anyone have thoughts on what buries what is left for later? Thanks.
