Hi, my name is Laura and we have been raising chickens for about 8 years now. We have 27 girls and 3 Roos.
our flock consists of: 2 Australorps, 2 Buff Orpington, 2 Plymouth Rocks, 4 Easter Eggers, 3 Booted Silkie Bantams-one is a Roo,
2 Bantams, 2 Leghorns, 2 Silver Laced Wyandotte’s, 4 Lavender Orpington, and 4 Sapphire Gems. We have 3 Roos total, one is a silky Booted Bantam(Little Roo), One is a Lavender Orpington (Big BO) and one is a beautiful colored Bantam (Charlie).
Everyone coexists very well! My favorite part of raising these little clowns is watching them…My husband and I take our morning coffee outside and sit and watch them in the morning and early evening before bed. We find them relaxing and very entertaining!
I bake, I bake dog biscuits and cakes and chicken block and all sorts of things. I love it I am Italian and learned from the best teachers.
My son and I had a bakery at one time but when he got married and had children it was just too much, We will still do cookies at Christmas and pound cakes for special people and family, I have fruitcake fermenting for Christmas as I speak LOL!!!
We have 4 dogs, all rescues, Barley who is 11 is a Great Pyrenees-Golden Mix, Bandit who is 11 is a Jack Russell-Border Collie mix, Mushu who is 8 is a Pure Border Collie and Charli who is 2 is a Great Pyrenees, Hence the dog biscuits for family and friends. We have 1 cat, Morris he is 12 and loves to cuddle with everyone or sit on his window seat and watch the birds.
I found BYC one day while reading Chicken articles (imagine that) and loved the information and interesting topics. I found it very informative. I am hoping someone can help us with Indigo and Coco.
