I was lucky enough to get some Cortunix from SamG and they are adorable. They sound like crickets--or frogs! And they are prolific little layers. The little eggs are tasty and enough for a bite. I now need to finish their housing--but I think they are a wonderful addition and they barely take up any space.

They haven't layed yet, but with the weather i dont expect to see eggies from them until spring but that's fine with me. I love htem too and i agree crickets or frogs!

I actually named my one male "cricket" because he sounded like a perfect cricket singing when he'd call. Cricket came from a large game farm though.

I cant wait to try their eggies but i dont thikn i'll eat em for a while, planning on hatching and selling first!

Likewise... I have a pen of jumbos from Sam, plus a pen of regular coturnix, and more babies popping out in the hatcher as I type this.

I love them... they're my absolute favorite so far.

Jeeze, I think Sam got us all addicted to quail. Both PC and I have a pen of Jumbo's from Sam and now we have about 100+ eggs in the 'bator from AK and other members. Sam look what you've done!

I'm new here but wanted to say I just recently got a coturnix quail (golden color) and a button quail (white) as pets and I'm just loving them. They are eating meal worms out of my hand and the Coturnix just laid an egg (it's dark brown) and the button keeps laughing (a noise like hee-hee-hee-hee)

LOL, now I am going to have to try some coturnix in the spring!

Sounds like most people that have them, like them.

I hatched out 5 from SamG too (4 weeks old now) and I absolutely love them!!! I have 22 one-week olds from other eggs I hatched and I am addicted. They are so calm and friendly compared to the button quail. I love them too but they are so hyper!!
