Hi, my name is Neil and I found this site while looking for reasons my 3 year old Rhode Island Red has stopped laying eggs. I have found a few things to look into and will try them first before repeating questions already asked. Our one surviving hen went from 5 eggs a week to no eggs in the last several weeks. She is lucky to be with us as her 5 yard mates got the interest of a couple of coyotes.

! Pleased you joined us! Kind of odd - to go from 5 per week to zero. Most hens taper off but I've never heard an abrupt shut off like that. You might post in the following link for more precise advice. Good luck to you!

Did your hen see the slaughter of her flock mates? Was that when she stopped laying? When they are traumatized - they won't lay again till they feel secure.

Thanks for the great welcome, I will move over to the behavior and egg laying section.
