Luster on eggs?

Do different breeds produce a different luster or is it a individual chicken thing? Diet thing? I have different luster on some of my eggs and was wondering. They do get out in the evenings so I was wondering if some ate more of something, etc. If it was because they are different breeds, or what not.

I think it may be an individual chicken thing

Some of the eggs I get are smooth and shiny, almost like they've been waxed. Then some are rough and almost chalky feeling. They seem to be fairly consistent with laying the same "type" eggs, too.
